FVP, Compensation and Payroll Manager

The Compensation and Payroll Manager is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration and communication of compensation and payroll programs for the Bank.  Recommends, develops and administers policies and procedures related to key compensation and payroll functions.  Exercises judgment and discretion necessary to comply with governmental wage and tax regulations and laws.

Manages the entire Payroll team

Essential Functions:

  1. Leads compensation processes to include the annual merit and bonus processes for all team members and restricted stock unit awards for senior managers.
  2. Designs salary programs based on market research and competitive analysis which result in higher levels of engagement and retention.
  3. Develops proactive relationships with senior management to design commission plans and other incentive programs.
  4. Applies knowledge and research results of job documentation, job evaluation, market and pay data and salary structures to implement best practices for the Bank.
  5. Provides timely, high quality information and recommendations to senior management on compensation trends, legislation and issues.
  6. Manages and guarantees bi-weekly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes for 1,000 to 2,000 employees.
  7. Ensures the accurate and timely payroll processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  8. Leads payroll staff to ensure optimal client response, problem resolution, and payroll input accuracy.
  9. Critically reviews and analyzes current payroll, benefit, and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
  10. Ensures systems are set-up and updated to reflect employees’ base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time, etc.
  11. Works closely with internal and outside auditors on compensation and payroll audits.
  12. Works on special projects, e.g. payroll system conversion, time and attendance conversion, 401k administration system conversion, payroll and benefits integration, reports requested by senior management etc.

Education:    College degree in Human Resources or general business discipline preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:  Minimum 10 years human resources experience in a similar capacity.  In depth technical and analytical compensation and payroll expertise with a strong understanding of the relationship between compensation and achieving business objectives.  Knowledge of sales compensation programs and inventive and commission plans.  Certified Compensation Professional is desired but not required.

Skills/Ability: Prior management experience in Human Resources especially in compensation and payroll area preferred.  Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word,  and HR systems.  Excellent organization skills.  High level of accuracy and attention to details.  Knowledge of federal and state wage and employment laws and regulations.  Knowledge of federal and state tax and statistics reports.  Knowledge of 401K administration, workers compensation and benefits administration.  Strong people manager, leader, and coach – leads by example.  

Estimated salary range (DOE):  $130K to $170K plus bonus, 401K, ESOP, medical, dental, vision, life, vacation
